Leave No Trace is an important subject to remember when hiking, camping, or just doing an activity outside.
1) It is important to plan ahead and prepare. This can be as simple as making a packing list and ensuring you have a way to dispose of your trash. 2) When hiking or camping be sure that you stay on an established trail, if possible. This can prevent damage to plants and animals that call the wilderness their home. 3) Make sure that you bring a way to get contain your trash until you can find a trash can. Too many people don't bring a way to contain their trash and end up leaving it at their campsite or along the trail. 4) When out in nature don't take anything you find home. Taking items from nature takes from the beauty other people will experience. Try to leave everything as you found it. 5) Try to avoid making large campfires. By doing this you preserve the natural environment without taking from it. 6) Make sure you respect the wildlife around you. This means leaving the wild animals alone and not interacting with them. 7) You are often not the only visitor in a park or person outside. It is important to be quiet and not diminish the experience of other people. |
